About this tool
Add files, pick the algorithm (or all), press Compute. Hashes are calculated with the browser's built-in Web Crypto (SHA family) and a CRC32 routine, written in the familiar "hash filename" format used by sha256sum, and shown in the note for quick comparison with a vendor's published value.
Because the file never leaves your device, this works for large installers and private documents alike.
How it works
- Step 1. Choose or drop the files.
- Step 2. Pick SHA-256, SHA-1, SHA-512, CRC32 or all.
- Step 3. Press Compute checksums and compare.
Questions
Which hash should I use?
SHA-256 for verifying downloads and integrity; SHA-1 and CRC32 only when a tool specifically asks for them.
Is MD5 available?
Not currently — SHA-256 is the modern standard and what most vendors publish.
Is there a size limit?
Files are hashed in memory; a few gigabytes work on a desktop.
Good to know
- No MD5.
