Privacy Policy
This policy explains what PDFConverterOnline.com does — and does not — collect. The short version: files you convert on this site never leave your device, we run no accounts, and the only analytics we use are configured to work without cookies in the EU/UK.
1. Files you convert
The converter on the homepage runs entirely inside your web browser using open-source libraries served from this domain. Your files are read by your browser, processed in its memory, and the result is offered to you as a download. Nothing is uploaded, transmitted, stored or seen by us. If you close the page, the data is gone. You can verify this yourself: once the page has finished loading, disconnect from the internet and the converter still works. We do not collect file names, contents, sizes or page counts; our analytics record only that a tool (for example "merge") was used and whether it succeeded.
2. Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how many people visit and which sections and tools they use, with two safeguards:
- Visitors in Europe are not measured at all. If your device's time zone is a European one, the Google Analytics library is never loaded and nothing is sent to Google — no cookies, no pings. This site therefore shows no cookie banner.
- Elsewhere, Google Analytics runs with Google Consent Mode v2 and may set first-party cookies (such as
_ga) to distinguish returning visitors. Advertising storage, ad user data and ad personalisation are denied everywhere; we run no advertising.
Data processed by Google Analytics is subject to Google's privacy policy. You can block analytics entirely with a browser extension such as Google's opt-out add-on or any content blocker; the site works identically without it.
3. Local storage and caching
The site stores your theme choice (light, dark or system) in your browser's local storage, and a service worker caches the page and its libraries so it loads instantly and works offline. Both stay on your device and can be cleared through your browser settings.
4. Affiliate links
Links in the desktop apps section are affiliate links (see the affiliate disclosure). When you click one you leave this site, and the vendor or its affiliate network may set cookies on their domain to attribute a purchase. We receive aggregate reports of clicks and commissions, never your personal details.
5. External links
Links to the tools we review lead to third-party websites with their own privacy practices. We mark them rel="nofollow" and open them in a new tab; we are not responsible for their content or data handling.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR or CCPA) you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data and to object to processing. This site holds no accounts, no files and no messages, so the only personal data that can exist is the analytics data described in section 2, which is held by Google. You can exercise your rights over it directly through Google's privacy controls, prevent it entirely with Google's Analytics opt-out add-on or any content blocker, and clear the site's local storage and cache through your browser settings.
7. Children
This site is a general-audience utility and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16.
8. Changes
We will update this page when our practices change and revise the date above. Material changes will be noted on the homepage change stamp.
