About this tool
Select a folder's worth of files. Exact duplicates are found by SHA-256; images are also compared with a 9×8 difference hash, which catches the same photo saved at different sizes or qualities (Hamming distance ≤ 6). The report groups them so you can delete the extras on your device.
The tool never uploads or deletes anything — it only reports.
How it works
- Step 1. Choose or drop the files (hundreds are fine).
- Step 2. Press Find duplicates.
- Step 3. Open duplicates.txt and delete the extras yourself.
Questions
Will it find a resized copy of a photo?
Usually, yes — the perceptual hash ignores size and mild compression. Heavily cropped or edited versions may not match.
Does it delete files?
No. Nothing on your disk is touched; you get a report.
How fast is it?
About 1,000 photos per minute on a laptop; hashing is done in the browser.
Good to know
- Near-duplicate detection is for images only.
