About this tool
Select the files, name the archive, press Create ZIP. The archive is written in your browser (stored mode, which is instant and right for already-compressed files such as PDFs, JPGs and videos). Nothing is uploaded, so it is a safe way to package confidential documents before emailing them.
Need to open an archive instead? Use Extract ZIP.
How it works
- Step 1. Choose or drop two or more files.
- Step 2. Type a name for the archive.
- Step 3. Press Create ZIP and download.
Questions
Does the ZIP compress the files?
Files are stored without re-compression, which is instant and loses nothing; PDFs and images are already compressed, so a Deflate pass would save little.
Is there a size limit?
Only your device's memory; a few hundred megabytes is fine on a laptop.
Can I password-protect the ZIP?
Not in this version. For confidential PDFs, use Protect PDF (AES-256) before zipping.
Good to know
- Stored (uncompressed) entries.
- No ZIP passwords.
