About this tool
Add the old and new PDF. The text of each is extracted and compared word by word (or line by line); the result is a self-contained HTML report with insertions and deletions highlighted and a count at the top, plus a plain-text version. Contracts, policies and resubmitted papers can be checked in seconds without sending either version anywhere.
Scanned PDFs need OCR first; the comparison works on text.
How it works
- Step 1. Choose the two PDFs (old first, then new).
- Step 2. Pick words or lines, and whether to ignore case and spacing.
- Step 3. Press Compare and open compare.html.
Questions
Does it compare layout or images?
No — text only. Formatting-only changes (bold, font) are not reported.
Can I compare more than two files?
Two at a time; run it again for each pair.
What if the PDFs are scans?
Run OCR PDF on both (text output) and compare the results.
Good to know
- Text only; no layout or image comparison.
