About this tool
Auto mode measures the printed area of each page and trims the white space around it (keeping a small 2% margin), which makes scanned books and papers fill a phone or e-reader screen. Margins mode crops a fixed amount from each side in mm, points or inches. The crop is applied to the page boxes, so nothing is re-rendered and quality is unchanged.
Nothing is uploaded; a 300-page book crops in a couple of seconds.
How it works
- Step 1. Choose or drop the PDF(s).
- Step 2. Pick Auto, or Margins and type the amounts and pages.
- Step 3. Press Crop PDF and download.
Questions
Is cropping reversible?
The content is still in the file; the visible area is reduced. Re-cropping with zero margins restores it in most viewers.
Why are my pages different sizes after auto crop?
Each page is trimmed to its own content. Use Resize pages afterwards to make them uniform.
Does it work on scanned PDFs?
Yes — auto detection works on the rendered page, so scans trim just like text pages.
Good to know
- Auto mode needs a light background to detect content.
